  • Auction purchase. Perfect fill, but the cork slid into the bottle with just the slightest force, so gently decanted into a carafe. Despite the cork, the wine was fresh and vibrant with an intoxicating, perfumed nose. The fruit was surprisingly expressive and layered with an impressive range of tertiary elements. The acids were a touch assertive and the finish could have been longer, but otherwise this was an excellent and enjoyable example of a nicely aged Côte-Rôtie. It improved slightly over the hour we had it open and made for a superb pairing with traditional Greek lamb chops and potatoes.
