Luis "Bring a good bottle" - Pinot and Bordeaux (Kenwood): This was a bit green, and that added interest/balance. After 20 minutes there appeared fatty meat, ash, earth and pepper. This is a style I really like, but qualitatively it's not the best bottle of Northern Rhone. I'd like to try something from a less hot vintage.

Decanted 90 minutes, I believe, plus slow O in bottle for a couple hours. Nice nose, fairly smooth on the palate, picked up lots of pepper. Didn't wow me as I was hoping - seemed a bit one-dimensional. Perhaps I'm more of a southern Rhone guy.

Mixed WTDS at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. 90 minute double decant; small glass over an hour. This started off really green and herbal on the nose. As this slowly opens up that green fades away and by 15 minutes was all but gone. Once that occurred we had a pretty good wine. Roasted meat, savory nose, dark fruits, a little scorched earth, white pepper, and rosemary. The palate is fairly full bodied, lots of earth, dark fruits, hints of blueberry, scorched earth, meats, and pepper.

Perfumed, floral nose followed by taste of raspberry and blackberry fruits, violet, smoke, meaty flavours. Silky wine, medium acidity, long finish. Very elegant and there is a nice intensity and definition to the aromas.
Had a first bottle one year ago of this vintage and was left with a much more oaky taste, this time didn't sense any wood and much more fruits. Very enjoyable.
