shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. paired with lightly fried shrimp. i had been hanging onto this bottle for sentimental reasons as well as lack of feedback from other tasters. i had noted, in the past, that george makes his wines in a style that emphasizes early enjoyment of youthful elegance. glad to have pulled the cork on this bottle which, remarkably, 8 years out from the vintage was still showing wonderfully. profile has changed since last tasting. color is now slightly golden. perfume nose. a broader array of fruit in the mouth with more pronounced green apple. hints of minerality. lingering finish. a delightful wine. nevertheless, will be moving on to enjoy more recent vintages.

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. i found it necessary to open this bottle due to limited feedback from others regarding suggested drinking range. george makes his chardonnay to show breeding, finesse and style. so it can be assumed that they are meant to be consumed within five years of bottling. the wine showed beautifully. although the wine sees eleven months in oak, the wood flavors are very subtle. perfumed nose. generous stone fruit. medium body. a perfect drink for late spring. will attend to the remaining bottle soon. will do a vertical with more recent vintages.

Had a lovely toasted flavor that reminded me of hawaiian sweet bread but not wweet. Served with starter courses of carrot soup with creme fraiche and pumpkin gnocchi with pesto.

Fresh, slightly floral nose. Very interesting combination of fruit flavors on introduction to the palate--Green apple, Kiwi, Peach, even Pineapple and a touch of Lemon. Acid is the combining component. Not your California “butter bomb” Chardonnay, but not your subtle complex Burgundy style either. However, as the wine warms up a bit, it does seem to become rounder and fuller.

An almost neon yellow. A great balance of peachy fruitiness, almond nuttiness, and bitter-sour quality.
