Pale yellow. Pineapple, honey, chalky minerality. Fleshy mouthfeel with crisp acidity. Reminds me of the semillon element in white Bordeaux. Real nice.

Finano di Avellino is both an appellation and the home of the Fiano grape varietal in southern Italy, which signals how esteemed this kind of white wine is. Most famous white wines achieve that in one of 3 different ways: 1) being deliciously fruity, 2) how crisp, refreshing, bright, and cleansing they are, and 3) being richly textured, full bodied, powerful, and complex. The greatest tend to have some of all three, and include Chardonnays made in Champagne, Burgundy, and California. Fiano is one of least internationally famous white wines that is a contender for all three. Very aromatic, with a complex range including honey, citrus, and tropical fruits. The acidity is bright and zesty throughout the taste. The body has the texture and fullness often associated with extended aging on the lees and in wood barrels. The finish is mouth watering, cleansing, bright, and dry. Overall, an all cylinders white wine and one of the few white grapes that can achieve this top quality in hot climates like southern Italy.

Floral nose. Tart and citrusy but with a nice viscosity that gives it a richer feel in the mouth. Lingering chalky finish. Great with clams and pasta in a spicy sauce.

PnP. Nice but with a slight bitter note on the finish that detracts from the experience. Drink now. 13.5%

Bright, sherbetty. Vibrant with great persistency long after the wine is swallowed.
