Had this over dinner last night. Never had the wine before but at 20 years of age, it's holding up very well. Plenty of peachy color and a fruit-anchored palate that to me seemed fresh and well-defined. We crushed the bottle in about 45 mins and nothing left to taste today. I just appreciate the kindness of my friend who continues to bring these kinds of grand marque things for me to taste, to keep my perspective open given I own nothing in the grand marque category.

Light salmon color. Split bottle over 90 minutes at the Kenwood. First time having the Alexandra, and it has a high bar to meet, set by their glorious NV. Well, this was quite exquisite offering so much purity and complexity. The nose wafts with fresh air, strawberry chiffon, cherry cream, and rose petals with a sweet Chantilly cream and toasty notes in the upper register. The palate is sublime, with power and nuance, lovely purity to the fruits, a mix of strawberry, cherry, peach and citrus, with soft clean mineral notes, fresh and lively, great creamy texture, strawberry shortcake, long and pristine. Loved it. 95+ to 96pts.

Pale salmon with a delicate mousse, starting to dissipate. Drinking very nicely today, showing leaner dried red fruits, biscuit and shortbread, raspberries and cream, with a hint of oak/vanilla on the back end. Acid is still vibrant and the fruit has begun mellowing out. It seems to be in the phase of transitioning towards more tertiary notes, but that comes off as the fruit becoming muted to me. Unsure if this has the fruit intensity to age further, however it was a great wine tonight.

Much better than what I had last year. Nose is complex, layered with caramel, mousse, oak. Fine mousse, nice minerals, medium acidity; clementines, caramel, oak, white pepper - so complex. Ending is refined and long. Such a treat!
