A warm, round, ripe Nebbiolo. It's not complex, but it has wonderful varietal character. Color is on the brown end of the ruby spectrum, as it should be. Slightly drying older oak peeks through the fruit. Old school, enjoyable and satisfying. Compares favorably with Langhe Nebbiolos.

Really fun nose, riper and rounder than the 11 was but still distinctly Nebbiolo-based, reminding me at first of Lessona, though on a smaller scale. Nice and juicy on the palate, again a little rounder than the 11, and slightly less tense, but delicious all the same, with blackberry but also kind of strawberry? and some green elements, too. I see what the others are saying, too, about the Rhone aspect. There's a black fruit and stony soil and coffee thing that could definitely be mistaken for a grenache/syrah thing. Opens up and deepens over a few hours, and makes a great partner for food.

Bears a resemblance to Southern Rhone but the spice, creosote/rubber don't overshadow the fruit here. This is interesting - not brilliant - but not bad. Pegged this as northern Italy but not Barolo/Barbaresco - and so it is. Lombardy.
