A quite mature bottle. Cherry, raspberry, earthy notes, and some lower octave dark sweet spice. Tart cherry on the palate, with the fruit somewhat muddled overall. Remaining acid presence on the finish. Overall plays reasonably well but within a quite narrow range. 88-89

Brownish color, aged appearance. Nose was fragrant with red fruits, spice, herbaceousness, and soil. Light bodied and some tartness. Very tasty and elegant but also felt a bit mature for its age.

Burgundy Retrospective - 1996 (Version KS) (Washington DC): Typical matured Truchot color, caramel, a hint of raspberry, very pretty and easy to drink. The fruit expression is not too complex, a shy sweet wine with medium boy and excellent balance.

Burgundy Retrospective - 1996: Light on the nose. Crystal purity in that nose and on the palate. Laser precise in the middle with a brightness and persistence. Finish with a touch of caramel and cola. Drops off a bit on that finish, but a minor complaint.

A weekend of Jacky Truchot; 1/28/2006-1/29/2006 (Washington DC): A typique sweet 96 nose. Some soil and dusty fruit, a bit of violet. Nice weight, a little unfocused with good acidity and bite. Nice lingering finish of strawberry and cream and cinnamon hints. Very balanced and exceeds above 1er cru quality.
