Last bottle. Popped and poured. This wine did have some green pepper on the nose and some vegetal flavors early. We decanted and let it sit for a bit. Fruit is dark and the wine did evolve with time. My suggestion would be a 2+ hour decant. Last sip was the best.

Palate: dry tart cherry, dirt, a bit of a floral note; long finish of mineral, leather, and a bit of salinity; dry; medium body; medium rough tannin (maybe just on the rougher side of velvety); high- and sharp acid
Overall thoughts: "dry, tart cherry" is probably one of my least favorite non-flawed notes, so that didn't help my opinion of this wine. Honestly, I thought this was much older as there was little fruit, and not much else on the palate. As far as the flavors went, the wine just seemed old (i.e., beyond mature). However, I was surprised that the flavors seemed so dull or uninspired while the acidity was sticking out like a sore thumb. Additionally, the tannins were of a slightly lower quality and slightly more prominent than I'd expect from a Pinot. I didn't enjoy this wine, but didn't quite dislike it, and found it to be 1 point about "pretty bad" and in what I consider "mediocre" territory.

These 04s just needed time to develop…and they have. Really drinking nicely. Evolved, delicate black fruit, friendly finish…drink or hold another 5?

Method: tasted blind (not sure about decanting other than for sediment); 64 degrees; Burgundy glass
Look: pale tawny; few fast legs
Nose: mushroom, forest floor, dill, tobacco, light baking spice, clove, light dry cherry, smoked trout (???), mustard leaf
Palate: dry tart cherry, dirt, a bit of a floral note; long finish of mineral, leather, and a bit of salinity; dry; medium body; medium rough tannin (maybe just on the rougher side of velvety); high- and sharp acid

Pretty red cherry nose, but a bit light and fizzy in the mouth. Ok, but not memorable.
