La Paulée de Los Angeles - The Verticals (Maybourne Hotel - Beverly Hills CA): Walkaround vertical tasting. Extremely rich with immense power, yet near balance. Structure is elegant and remains just off center in the near background. Not as great right now as the 2017, but better for the cellar. Exceptional potential 94-95 points as it evolves.

Wines Tasted at the La Paulée Verticals Session (The Maybourne, Beverly Hills): Same color saturation as the 2017. Only slightly larger scaled than that wine. Riper red fruit, more sappiness, but still medium weight at most. The beacon of red fruit is complemented by citrus and a deep core of earth, then it finishes with drier, slightly grainy tannin. Also lovely and prototypical of the domain even in a warmer vintage. I would bury this for at least 6-8 years to let it soften the sharper edges.

Why? The nose has zero fruit or berry it is just simply flat. It is very tight beyond reason. Revisited the glass an hour later and still very alcoholic with not much depth or insight. Grand Cru class is not what this wine is.
