200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Slight pruny, overripe, a bit too much for me, rich, dark black cherry. It was the group’s favorite, usually also my favourite wine of the stable, but not in this line up. The host mentioned that is usually the best wine in the Drouhin stable.

Good bright colour (light red, with appropriate oranging at the rim). Open and accessible from the off, with attractive strawberry fruit, but a persistent green streak on nose and palate stubbornly refused to go away and the wine remained disappointingly one-dimensional even over a long evening.

Greg's Backyard - June 2021: [From Magnum] This wine pours pours medium ruby with essentially no bricking. The nose is expressive and complex but perhaps just barely entering its drinking window, especially from magnum. The nose shows dried cherry, a touch of VA, orange zest, cardamom pod, orange pekoe tea, and a whisp of nori. The palate is quite silky with lots of dried red fruit, a touch of tannin and a zesty red berry finish. Lovely wine that improved over the two or so hours from when it was opened. The consensus red wine of the night.

Stellar powerful nose of cranberry, cinnamon, hint of leather and pomegranate, mid-weight+ body palate with cranberry, cherry, pepper, excellent balance and very long tart finish. In a great place, showing the nice depth in a GC Burg.

(Drouhin Joseph Griotte-Chambertin) Medium cherry red. The nose is sweet with warm red fruits - one of the rare wines in this line-up to show griottes! Rich and fat this wine shows beautiful red fruit, lovely acidity and medium, relatively refined tannin. A finish which I would describe as long in most line-ups, but merely average in this company. Whilst very primary, there is a drinkability about the wine which makes it 'moreish' today, but my remaining two bottles will have to wait at least until their 10th birthdays for the next viewing.
