  • Has lost some of its vibrant fruit and freshness. Still a core of red fruit but sweeter and more raisin like that my previous 2 bottles due to the age. Whilst enjoyable, for me, this is now past it’s best and needs drinking.

  • NZ Pinot is loved for its fruit driven style and Central Otago does it better than any other region there. Felton Road is internationally renowned as arguably the top Pinot producer in New Zealand. This wine from the Cornish Point vineyard wafts with mushrooms and forest floor aromas. The bright fruit of its youth has been replaced with more savoury and complex flavours - which are very welcome. It can’t be honestly mistaken for a Cote De Nuit burgundy but it is intriguing and interesting in its own style and well worth trying. The Block 3 and Block 5 labels are the pinnacle of the Felton Road Pinot range but this and the Bannockburn editions are almost as good for considerably less. Try them with 5 spice roast duck and the flavour combination will hit all the right notes. 90 points

  • The star of the evening unmistakenly NZ bright fruit, the pure hedonism of its youth that was so hard to resisit has gratifyingly now been replaced witn fruity and floral complexity still delicious.

  • Red fruit on the nose. Strawberries, cherries on the palate. Medium + acidity giving a lovely freshness. Very precise. Drinking really well.
