Ultra dark fruited - inky, like crushed ants - some spice (like white pepper, caraway, fennel and turmeric), surprisingly light on the palate, low astringency. Ultimately bit boring/dull. And there are many Victorian Shiraz that do this better. Nope

NobleRottersSydney - Random night (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 12.8%} [Stephen] Maturing, white pepper over lightly-weighted black fruit. Subtle blackberries and cranberry on the spicy palate, with low/medium dusty tannins and gentle oak presence. Light/medium-bodied overall, with a medium length savoury finish. A kiwi version of chianti. Can age longer; I not convinced there’s evolution available here though.

Nice Syrah. Although it has the elegant stylings of a cool-climate style with some peppery, savoury undertones, the extraction is dialed up some and there’s a fair lashing of oak too. So it borders on being a bit soupy. The flavours and aromas are sitting in the sort of anonymous red-black fruit spectrum, so it kinda suffers from being just a little bit boring to me... it’s very clean and prissy and precise.

Dark plum, white pepper, juicy dark fruit, warm red fruit, vanilla and slight licorice. Palate of ripe and juicy red fruits (raspberry, blackberry) slight spice (juniper) and fine tannins. Juicy, happy balance and delicious.
