Delicious drinking. Deep purple colour. Lovely aromas of dark berry fruits and sage. Intense blueberry and red cherry fruit on the palate, with tannins that are already fine, and with a bright finish.

Needs 30 min too warm up. Then there’s nicely perfumed and elegant aromas. Pepper, blackberry, plum, violet and leather. Silky dry tannins. Ticks all the boxes of a well-made NZ syrah in northern Rhône style but lacking some body. The decanter Best in show award and 97p is however overrated.

Purple rim, ruby red with a purple tint. Blackberry, blueberry, cinnamon, spice and gamey. Medium-full bodied. A sweet finish. Classic cool climate syrah.

Lots of stuff going on - white pepper, black currants, blackberries and also the rubbery smell/taste of inflating pool toys. The prominent tannins are dry and there is a bitterness in the finish. I like it although the mouthfeel is weak and leaves me wanting.

Disappointed - bit flat and thin…..not as good as I recall from earlier vintages
