It can be so hit or miss on burgs that I buy parsimoniously, so when I hit a good one, I always regret not buying more. That's the story here: Opened as the second red of the night on a Triple Date, it was WOTN for most everyone at the table. We were eating tricky to pair Syrian and Lebanese food and this worked so well with its low tannins, forest-floor notes, clean and slightly floral aromas. Now, was it worth full price of around $75? You would have a hard time convincing me, but it was delicious and ethereal as the best PN is.

Starting to come out of its closed state to some degree, but needs more time to fully open. Such a dense, complex NSG on release, it shut down as most do shortly thereafter.

Garnet-violet color of medium depth. Young Nose of concentrated raspberry, violets, and oak. Lots of young purple fruit on the palate, which seemed overall tight; noticeable oak; good acidity; boring-but-promising today: Hold.

Showing the ripe side of the vintage, this wine is very direct and powerful in the way it delivers concentrated, dark red fruits like dark cherries, cranberry, and plum. The oak is restrained while the tannins are strong, melding well together, and providing a nice counter balance to the fruit. The acidic freshness takes a back seat to these other elements, but it holds its ground, and will see that the wine develops positively over the next 5 - 10+ years.

The 2012 Les Pruliers showed a remarkably pretty and floral nose with ripe red fruits and spice, along with hints of undergrowth adding depth. On the palate, I found silky, finessed textures with wild berry fruit and inner floral tones. The balance here made for a refreshing and cool fruit feel, leading to a lively finish reminiscent of red berry and herbs.
