What an amazing Barolo! Still young, but already showing off gravitas through it's amazing structure. Has the future for it (far, far away!) May very well hit the 100 mark.

Decanted for 3h, and it needed it. After opening the acidity was a bit unbalanced but with some decanter time, the minerality in the wine, tannins, and red fruit balanced it out. This is a mature Barolo, still plenty of red berries and fruit. Perfumy nose, lots of roses and vanilla. Tongiht with chicken and cauliflower in green thai curry.

A Barolo - that my Burgundy drinking wife who hates tannins likes - is hard to come by. This is one of them. Drank this at the Osteria da Fiori in Venice where we had to go local on the red wine to not offend anyone after sticking to Champagne vs Franciacorta as a starter. This is a modern Barolo but not over oaked, beautiful aromas of dried flowers, bakery spices, dried red fruit, measured tannins buffering the richness. The 2008 vintage ads its elegance to complete the package. Well done!

Tasted a small amount after decanting for my wife to take to a dinner with some business associates. Translucent medium garnet, slightly lighter, almost starting to brick on the edge. Nose has some noticeable alcohol (14.5% ABV) otherwise light red florals and cherry fruit. Bright acidity and slightly drying tannins are notable on the palate along with distinct red cherry through the mid palate, then some leathery tobacco on the finish. Plenty of life ahead and probably better in 5+ years.
