  Hour decant, the rim is browning slightly, initially the nose is dominated by anise/black licorice and loosened up in the glass over time, developing more of the classic blood presentation of syrah. The palate is very, very smooth with very fine grained tannins and mellow acidity with with anise, meat, earth, herbs and a touch of black fruit on the palate. Lighter in body but long in finish with a very refined mouthfeel, drink this now if you have it in your cellar, it is on the precipice of decline but still enjoyable now.

  Lighter than expected when poured, after some time in the glass took on more fruit weight and character. Will easily last 5+ more years, may well improve further. Really enjoyable wine.

  Otto - Pasta Charity Dinner: Black pepper on the nose with stems and some meaty aromas. The palate shows great restraint with more spice and pepper elements evident. Pleasingly detailed texture provides extra interest. For me I thought this was drinking well now and should continue to do so over the next few years.
