My Grade: EX-. Rhone blend dominanted by Syrah (85%) with nice depth and character. Mouth-filling Dark plum and black cherry with roasted game, good minerality and lifting acidity. Tastes like it could have come from the Southern Rhone in a hot vintage. Should pair very well with roast lamb or venison. Very well made and great valué (see my profile for grades).

A savory, deliciously fresh red blend of Rhône varieties dominated by Syrah with some Mourvèdre, Cinsaut, Grenache, and Carignan thrown in as well. The full palate opens with mingled red and black cherries, balanced off by powerful acidity. Flavors and aromas mirror each other and evolve into notes of scrubland herbs and musk. Funky-yet-accessible, this is excellent with grilled lamb, gamey roast pork, and charred broccoli rabe. Mullineux is a family of quality-conscious growers. The wine was vinified by individual parcel; grapes were sourced from a range of soils and terroirs, including Mourvèdre from iron-rich slopes, Syrah and Cinsaut grown on shale and schist, and bush-trained Carignan and Grenache from decomposed granite soils.

Retailer tasting (@ The factory): Red and dark berries as well as some garrigue. On the palate ripe red fruits and fresh acidity. Round tannin. Ok wine, but it is all a bit too smooth. 83 - 84

Drunk a few days ago, so can't recall detail. Enjoyed the wine, focused, balanced, lots of blackberries.
