{screwcap, 13.8%} Glowing mid garnet with correct fading for age. Developing nose with lots of herbs, basil, understated currants. Palate isn't overtly green though, aging with some old-fashioned Coonawarra eucalypt character, medium in weight, black cabernet fruit underneath and fine powdery medium tannins. Not particularly complex though, with a finish just a little too short for the ambition of the label I think. Will hold for ages, but I don't expect real development.

Interesting wine. Nose redolent of Australian wine with a bit of age, done engine oil, thick ripe fruits. Cabernet prominent on the nose with a noticeable bell pepper presence and eucalyptus on the finish. Very good, but some more time in bottle wouldn't hurt.

Drunk it on the Boxing Day wine journey. It was number 15 of the day but it looked great and was a memorable wine. It was placed between an aged Barolo and a Margaret River cabernet of the same age. The wine showed well as a very good cabernet long lingering cabernet flavour and intensity good acid structure but tannins had softened The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and blueberry. It tastes like blueberry, blackberry, vanilla and oak. The body is medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

"2015" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2014-10/16/2014 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 13.8%} This could be Skippy the Bush Kangaroo in a glass. Classic Oz note of eucalypt leavened with oak and herbs. Smells of the bush. The palate is fairly loose-knit and open; a lovely example of classy Coonawarra cabernet. Herblike flavours, menthol and eucalypt combine, supported by medium/high dusty tannins in a medium/full-bodied wine with a decent enough mid-palate and a medium-length dry finish. Doesn’t seem built for the very long haul but will provide hearty, personality-filled drinking up to its decade at least.
