  Decanted 1 hour, consumed over 2 nights. Still a pretty good wine but there are signs it’s over the hill. On the nose hints of red berries, herbs, mushrooms and tobacco. On the palate, sour cherries, mushrooms. On Day 2, the wine was more fruity; strawberries, field strawberries and currants coming to the fore. The wine is medium bodied with low acidity and medium aftertaste (~20 sec). Regrettably my last bottle.

  Great wine for a winter night. Structured, Rich fruit, but balanced with beautiful acidity. Worked well with a cheese plate too.

  M&L home. Great nose, structure, Finish. Would buy again for this price. Have 2 bottles WS higher rated 2013.

  Decanted 2 hours. Medium ruby with very slight orange reflections. Nose is m(+) intense with a deep and fragrant dark cherry / kirsch with fruit only just starting to recede revealing hints of savory herbs and raisins coming though in the finish. Palate is full bodied with m(+) acid and high but silky tannin. No alcohol on the label but I would guess well integrated 14+. Finish is m(+) with m(+) flavor intensity. This is a very good wine just entering its drinking window and another ten years to develop. Certainly a modern style but without losing its typicity. Revisit in 3-5 years.

  Was like a great Brunello, powerfull with plenty of ripe sweetnees balanced by good acidity. 2011 develops as a great classical sangiovese and is still ahead of its peak, so will open the next bottle in two years.
