  • 2 hrs decant. As mentioned by others in here, this is a modernist styled wine, and it shows. Polished, round and soft with a fruit forward expression. The structure and especially the tannins a too soft for my taste and what I want in a Barolo at this level. I will drink my next and last bottle within 3 years.

  • Second bottle from the case. Might be 11 years old but still a baby, hence a good long decant - around 5 hours. A richer "newer" style of Barolo showing quite dark coloured in the glass with no bricking (perhaps will come with time). Smokey aroma. Flavours of cherry and leather on the palate. Not the most floral or perfumed Barolo with no real tannic structure to talk about, but still a very enjoyable wine especially with some strong soft cheese. Will check back in a few years time..

  • Too young but damn tasty after a four hour decant. Quite dark coloured and pretty full bodied with plenty of great Nebbiolo fruit. With time this will be a great wine judging by this early showing.

  • 2010 MARCHESI de BAROLO SARMASSA BAROLO- Blind: this youngster was big and wound up, but in time it was generously giving of its treasures which included intense plum and cherry fruit helped by dollops of spice and liquorice; it`s full bodied, rich and bountiful and just needs time to evolve.
