A stronger whiff of rural vibes landed gentry style in the air, dead serious dark cherry juice, chalky mineral water, vermouth ex alcohol, mildly herbaceous, very vital, fresh, accessible and precise. Quite lovely for friends of most earnest palatal entertainment

Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Lots of dark fruit, spicy, some edgy notes, stems, espresso powder. Powerful and beautiful. Bone dry, racy acidity, 13% abv. Medium+, mellow tannin. Lots of sour cherry, spices, espresso powder and chalky mineral notes. Cool, lean and deep. Lots of grip. Long finish with a mix of cherry juice and chalk. Potential for another decade. 92+

100% Ruchè. Fermented spontaneously, bottled unfined and unfiltered. 13% alcohol. Tasted in a Rinaldi Rosae 2019-2011 vertical.
Deep and somewhat translucent dark ruby red color. Ripe, wonderfully expressive and somewhat sunny nose with slightly sweetish and subtly lifted aromas of wizened black cherries, some floral notes of violets, a little bit of boysenberry, light juicy notes of stewed gooseberries, a hint of licorice root and a subtle touch of volatile lift. Lovely! The wine is dry, medium-bodied and very intense on the palate with a pronounced streak of sour cherry bitterness followed by bright flavors of tart lingonberries, some leathery notes of brett, light brambly notes of raspberry, a little bit of phenolic spice, a hint of slightly astringent black tea and a touch of licorice root. The overall feel is quite sinewy and muscular, thanks to the rather high acidity and textural, somewhat grippy tannins that seem to accentuate the bitter flavors. The aftertaste is long, dry and moderately bitter with some tannic grip and firm flavors of tart lingonberries, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of brambly raspberry, light gravelly mineral tones, a hint of black tea and a touch of lifted VA.
A firm, structured and dead-serious vintage of Rosae, not suffering one bit from the lack of structure evident in warmer vintages (like 2018, 2015 and 2011). This vintage is wonderfully open from the get-go and shows the bright, red-toned fruit flavors typical of this label, but also quite a bit of emphasis on the bitterness that is expected of Ruchè, but not that common in Rinaldi's Rosae. Nevertheless, this is an immensely enjoyable wine that was in our vertical second only to the impressive 2016 vintage. Due to its dry, firm and bitter nature, this really isn't that approachable, stylistically, and even though Rosae is often considered as a simple, early-drinking wine of Rinaldi, this really isn't that easy-drinking in nature. I love the bright acidity, nice tannic grip and rather pronounced bitterness here, but for people who prefer less forbidding wines, I encourage them to pair this with something that can soften the structure and offset that bitterness. Terrific, unapologetic stuff.

Lovely floral bitter cherry aromatics; bitter cherry, olive, amaro herb flavours, mid-bodied, quite similar to Rinaldi's dolcetto, full biting tannins locking down on midpalate, refreshing acidity. Really enjoy Rinaldi's ruché, drinking nicely now however has the structure to hold for another 3-5 years if wanted.

Again, firm tannins but good firm fruit. Takes a while to get accustomed to this, but I like it, acid head i am
