Nice aromatics, slightly raisiny but good concentration. On the palate, a little thin and after being open for a couple hours started to show some high VA or something similar. Defintely at peak or a little past as echoed in prior notes.
Nose of heavy dark fruit, but tapered over time to a nice balanced bouquet. Shared with friends, all commented that it was not as bold as a typical Zin. Very well balanced on the palate without the typical high alcohol feel of a Zin. Good fruit throughout and a nice long finish.
It took about an hour to open up fully in the decanter, and once it did I was all in. Heavier on the palate than I thought it would be, rich and thick, jammy comes to mind. Tasted of dark fruits and a hint of vanilla, not leathery or earthy, but smooth and slightly sweet. Definitely not overly spicy or peppery like some zins can get, this was on the smooth side. It balanced off beef and pork tacos nicely.
