  Yes, another reconditioned bottle, a producer aged “shiner” with new label and cork. Jamie, Somm at Husk in Savannah, grabbed the last 4 bottles to come into US, and graciously offered us Coravin pours at $45 an ounce, after opening. So, get there to try this before they’re gone, and start with the perfect May River oysters, w bubbles, the beautifully pink extra brut organic Laherte, followed by the superb char grilled quail. The burgundy is perfect for an hour, no decant needed, and expectedly fades at 80 minutes. It is an icon of balance, elegance, and grace, with secondary notes of black olive, mushroom, char, and lavender, supple and youthful; until, it dries out and fades, a departing gift and loving memory from ‘69. ‘69 is fine, indeed.

  Served blind. Phenomenal. One of the best burgs I have had in a long time. The nose was developed but the colour and palate resembled a significantly younger wine. The label was pristine and clearly a reconditioned bottle after years of perfect storage. The nose was amazing. So much barnyard with a hint of meat. So much tannins and structure, that I still scratch my head how this is 1969! Just a wonderful wine! From DrK.

  Presumably from a reconditioned bottle. Good density, with muted red fruit, some cinnamon and soy. Nice persistence on the finish. A fine 50-year treat!

  I loved this wine though I have no doubt it was reconditioned since the purchase/takeover (see my other notes re Rovani + company whittling down a cellar of 1.2 MILLION bottles to "just" a couple hundred thousand). Savory, beef broth, truffly, asian spices, soy sauce; minerality and creamy quality to the palate; celery salt and worcestershire (Bloody Mary, anyone?); richness. Paid $495 for this a couple years ago. It was worth it. (Another reason I know this was reconditioned is that I opened one of their '69 Bonnes Mares not long ago and that capsule, bottle, cork,.. was clearly 50 yrs old. This bottle was not)
