Getting better and better through the years. Still a robust wine, as it should be, but nicely mitigated into a very enjoyable balance. Exquisite. Alain Brumont is definitely the best winemaker in the Madiran.
Tannins have resolved somewhat, but are still present. However, the fruit has come forward, and it's drinking very well right now. I don't see any danger of this fading in the next few years ...

I am not a huge raw tannin fan, and tannat wines are famous for their tannins, so I went in with some trepidation, and was delightfully surprised. At 12 years old, the tannins were quite present but mellowed and orchestrated well with rich fruit flavors that are also quite present - not just a tannin lover's wine as I too often find to be the case.

A mature nose with nuances of dark fruit (plums, blackcurrant, blackberry) leather, oak and a touch of meat or blood sausage.
Likewise, there is a mature palate with dark fruit with notes of oak, spices and herbs. Fullbodied, with rounded and stucturing tannins, this is remarkably good for the price. It's ready now!
