Was worried as the top of the cork had a small amount of mould but it came out easily and in one piece. Past it’s best but still immensely enjoyable. Still some fruit left, mostly sour plum flavours. No tannin at all although the high acid made up for overall structure.

Darker ruby. Nose of fresh berry, anise, rock, earth, violets. Sharp, linear layers of mulberry, red raspberry, black cherry, and anise on the tongue with earthy sauvage elements. Copious acidity and ample tannin somewhat hidden by primary fruit. Longer finish of red raspberry and mulberry laced with acrid stone and grip. Green elements were not present but there were streaks of tobacco and "pleasantly screechy" acidity on the palate that spoke of the vintage.

All of the complaints are true - ash tray smoke, etc. But, I still liked it. The fruit was a crazy contrast but it worked as a complex, enjoyable sipper. Like a woman with very distinct features - beautiful and scary.

Agree with the ash tray. ciggy nose. Never really went away. great fan of tobacco aromas, but overall this bottle underperformed and I was glad to see it go.
