  • Five years on from previous bottle and this has smoothed out somewhat, showing a decent density of dark red fruit but in the same relatively two dimensional frame. Broad dark red fruit, positive attack, front-end loaded and little line and depth beyond that. An attractive enough drink but no more than one would expect for the appellation. Lacks complexity and energy. ***

  • Has taken a turn for the dark side since my last bottle. Not in a bad way, but what was once airy and light last year has become more full flavored and taken on a most attractive mushroom and earth quality. It tastes distinctly Cote de Nuits in its deeper red fruits and savory qualities now. Almost like a different wine entirely, unless this is just some serious bottle variation.

  • Quite dark and relatively dense. Reductive nose. Not attractive. A little better on day 2 and more so on day 3. Dark fruit, reasonably dense and a little foursquare, some grippy tannin on the finish. Somewhat lacking in joie de vivre! ***

  • Pretty palish red with sparkling highlights. It's shy on the pour and needs a good half hour to 45 minutes to open and show more than some dark forest notes. Then it becomes considerably more appealing-light sweet playful berry fruit emerges, and the forest becomes more like a meadow, with airy floral aromas teasing at the edges. It's really quite attractive. This feels like a baby Chambollei n its charming femininity, which isn't a shocker since I think that's where the Domaine is. Wait, I better confirm that...

Yes, it's in Chambolle, allegedly containing some villages grapes, but can't confirm. Even so, it's fun to think even the bourgogne could be so"transparent" as the experts say.

  • Very low-keyed; obviously burgundian. Merely very good.
