Very deep ruby red, a little rim variation, no detectable hints of color evolving to orange. Early on the nose gave off olive, prune, leather...not a wine that reaches out of the glass to greet you. The nose reminded me a bit of an Amarone. Pretty big in body for a pinot noir with noticeable tannins. Fruit was restrained, tasting more like a raisin liquer. Later on, the nose evolved to be caramel dusted with cocoa.
