  • Still shows some nice stone fruit on the nose. On the palate the fruit is all but gone allowing too much acid to show through. Some tertiary notes but not enough to hide the acid. Drinkable, but a major disappointment. My last one, and I should have had it a few years ago.

  • Very, very nice pinot. No rush to drink this, but ready to go without a decant. Dark, dense raspberry mixed with crushed dried flowers and earth. Solidly structured with good acidity and a very long finish.

  • Wow! - what a great pinot! Loam and plum nose that hides the flavor and complexity of the wine. Medium bodied with complex flavors of plum, oak, leather and earthy-ness with a very long, blanced finish. This is very burgundian in its elegance and complexity, but with a bit more fruit. There is a lot of oak, but is dominated by dark fruit flavors and balanced acidity. The overall impression is of a lot of flavors, but with nothing out of balance. This is perhaps the best pinot I have had the pleasure of enjoying in the past few years. For the burgundy lover, this is somewhere between grand cru and 1er cru quality. I own about 8-10 cases of St. Innocent and have consumed about 8-10 cases of St. Innocent over the past decade. This is my absolute favorite bottle of St. Innocent. It is also probably tied for first or second among my all-time favorite pinots (out of perhaps 1500+ bottles of pinot I have consumed). In short, it is an extraordinary pinot!

  • This was an incredible wine! I have had both the St. Innocent 2002 Seven Spring and 2002 Shea in the past few days, and this was the best of all! The wine is just slightly understated with plum notes predominating and with just a hint of dark berry and some loam undertones, and a lot of complexity. It is just about perfectly balanced - with smooth tannins, and enough acidity to balance the fruit. Medium-bodied, it has a great clean mouthfeel. It is very food-friendly as it paired nicely with both baked cod and short ribs. I want more!

  • Much richer on both the nose and palate than a recent 2001. Still showing too much wood for my taste, particularly on the palate where it's an even fight between fruit and wood. Much better integration on the nose. Quite full in the mouth with decent length. Still my least favorite St. Innocent single vineyard wine.
