dark raspberry colour plus some cherry reflexes. Dark and clear. Excellent. nose: thick; tart and sweet notes; fruity mix; pleasant. taste: medium (+) acidity, raspberries, very ripe strawberries, some plums; quite full as for gamay; nice soft tannins; sweeter, fruity finish. Balanced and deep.

Somewhat translucent yet quite deep and dark cherry red color with a hint of youthful blue. The wine is somewhat wild and pretty fragrant with aromas of tart lingonberries, ripe darker berries, some toasty wood tones, a little bit of earthy spice and a touch of sweet, volatile lift. The wine is quite light-bodied, silky and fresh on the palate with quite pure and well-delineated flavors of brambly raspberries, juicy red fruits, some crunchy dark berries, a little bit of earthy spice and peppery character and a sweet hint of toasty oak spice. The structure relies pretty much on the moderately high acidity as the tannins feel pretty light and gentle. The finish is medium in length with a little bit of tannic grip and pure flavors of ripe black cherries, some peppery spice, a little bit of crunchy red berries and a woody touch of savory oak spice.
A nice and perfectly enjoyable little Beaujolais with good harmony and sense of structure. Lacks the power and intensity of the best Moulin-à-Vent wines, but you really don't expect nothing beyond easy-drinking quality from a producer like Drouhin at this price range. Perhaps a bit too oaky for my taste, but fortunately not excessively so. Drinks really well right now, but might develop for a handful of years and keep for much longer. Priced according to its quality at 14,99€.
