  • Pretty nose of delicate flowers, blueberry, ripe strawberry, and earth. Lip-smacking red fruit with subdued tannins. Good, but am I wrong to think of Beaujolais as poor man's Burgundy?

Tasted at Matahari Resort in Bali, where I'm pleased to report that it was maintained in good conditions.

  • In the begining quite acidic and thin, like a € 5,-- beaujolais from the supermarket. After several hours (~4-6) breathing, it showed a very nice creamy texture (kind of chewy as well, if that makes sense), a nice fruit (strawberry), the acidity is much better integrated. Really delicious. Good QPR. Not sure about the points, somewhere between 87-89. I left half the bottle for the next day, so I'll decide that later.

Still very good on the next evening . A good earthy minerality, very good fruit/acidity combination, light tannins and a quite "strong" taste for a beaujolais. I really like it. 24 hours of breathing was maybe a bit too much, because the fruit got a little less dominant, but 8-12 hours in the corked bottle (or an equivalent shorter time in the decanter) seem to be necessary or at least helpful. I decided for 89 p. now, good QPR at ~ € 10,-- .
