  • Burnt amber/orange in colour. On the nose - peaches in syrup, warm marmelade, raisins. Still some acidity on a very weighty and mouthfilling palate of marmelade, tangerines, toffee, creme brulee and caramel. Delicious but I'm not sure it's benefited from all the extra bottle age.

  • From a half bottle from a restaurant in Sorrento. StrIght from the cellar, the bottle was only slightly cooler than room temperature so any comparison with a well stored bottle would be pointless. The bottle's content was the same colour and darkness as coca cola. I accepted it anyway mostly due to curiosity. On the nose, strong bouquet of raisins and figs (and cola...) making me think of a sweet sherry. On the palate, same flavours with some sweetness left over as well as some acidity. Best point was a very good length indicating how good this wine would have been had it been well stored and consumed 10 years ago. 85 today

  • Excellent. Still full and vigorous after all these years. A real pleasure to reacquaint ourselves with one of our earliest cellar purchases.
