This is showing it’s age-worthiness now. Almost opaque and no bricking on the rim. Aromas of black pepper, smoked meats, iodine, plum. A good mix of red and dark fruits, with some earthiness and a long finish. Still has medium acidity and medium plus tannins. Serve this with some fatty leg of lamb and call it a night.

WSET, Level 3 Advanced Certifcation Training; 3/11/2018-4/22/2018 (Texas Wine School at the Food & Wine Foundation of Texas, Austin, TX): Tasting sample. Clear deep ruby color. Developing aromatics showing medium plus aromas of spice, blackberry, vanilla oak, black licorice, dark earthiness and some faint meatiness. Dry on the palate with medium plus flavors of blackberry, black licorice, black pepper, and dark mineral laden earthiness. Medium plus body and medium alcohol. Medium plus tannin and medium plus acidity support a long finish. Aroma and flavor profile reflect an excellent mix of primary, secondary, and tertiary characteristics. An outstanding wine as evidenced by wonderful balance, concentrated intensity, long and deep length, and a high decree of evolving complexity. Can drink now, but has potential for further aging.
