Competent but unremarkeable St Julien. Drunk after an Usseglio Cuvée de mon Aieul, this was totally exclipsed and seemend almost lean. Old wood on nose, elegant taste, definite St Julien profile, and ready to go. But unremarkeable nevertheless.

Popped and poured, then sat in the bottle for a few. This was distinctive right from the start; dark fruit, touch of anise, big bold appearance. Looks to have a lot of substance and richness. This is young, but it is quite firm, with solid fruit and tannin, yet already showing charm. Probably five years from its best, but no slouch now. 5-12-17-9: 93/100.

This was a by the glass pour in Saint-Emilion. The nose is refined and lovely from the get-go with pencil lead, spice box, cedar, tobacco leaf, dark red cherries, cranberries, a touch of pepper, pyrazine notes, and some dried herbs. The Medium/full bodied feel is well balanced and elegant with medium acidity and chewy, medium+ tan that are resolving. This feels like it's getting close to entering a window where it will be at a really good point for a long time. The nose has come together nicely while the palate could still use a little more time to catch up to the nose.
