At Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen with Randy and Pete. Deep dark center, dark red rim with signs of age. Tight nose (didn't have time for a long decant), brambles and oak, pepper and coffee. Getting better in the mouth with some air, but still closed, the oak is noticeable but in relatively good balance with the dark plum, and dried cherry fruit. Drinking well now but still needs a good decant to express itself.
Consistent with my last tasting of this. Dark ruby. Expressive nose of coffee, vanilla and some wood, quite pleasant. On the palate wood dominates again and the meager fruit can unfortunately not buffer it enough.

(Chateau Saint-Pierre St Julien) This wine gives off a little perfume on the nose but, unsurprisingly at this stage in its evolution, it is quite well closed down. The palate is full of texture, being ripe, supple, bordering on voluptuous. Correct acidity, so nicely balanced. It gives nothing away right now, but this has very good potential.
