Dark, clear red colour. 1-2 hours decant. Red fruit, tobacco, earthy notes. Silky and sophisticated balance. Medium length. Elegant with smooth tankins. Drinks well now, but guess it will develop further. Really nice St Julien.

I was expecting more density and concentration but instead I got elegance and sophistication. This is not in your face fruit like a recent vintage Leoville Barton. This is a pure classic style, liked it a lot. Earthy notes, a touch of sweet spice, tobacco, cassis fruit, oak, and fine traditional terroir.

Prince - Cabernets of the world (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Blackcurrant, plum, sweet spice, cedar, very slight chocolate, herbaceous notes. Juicy, fleshy, muted fruit, slightly chalky, woody tannins persist long, slightly too long for the fruit in fact. Touch of cream joins on the finish. Meh.

Deep ruby colour. Pronounced and developing nose with blackcurrant, blackberry, black pepper, licorice, cloves, cedar and tobacco. Pronounced taste of blackcurrant, blackberry, black pepper, licorice, cloves and cedar. Long and dry finish. High acidity. High tannins. Medium body. A very good St. Julien. Drink in five to fifteen years. Goes well with beef or lamb.

Dark ruby color. N: opening slowly, black currant, cherry. P: black sour cherries, black currant. Different to many other left-side(!)-BDXs there is no domination of the Merlot over the CS (this is to find in many of the lefties - some critics wrote this might be caused by the great quality of the Merlot 2019 ). Crispy, but nice tannins: Spicy mouthfeel, like drinking some ginger-beer :-). Fruit forward, not shut down at the moment. Nice wine and promise for the future, but today not more than 92 pts.
