This apparently cult-ish producer only recently came to my attention, and I was very happy to source a few of this flagship bottling. I can't say I was enthralled, and am more puzzled than enthused. The nose was enticing at first, full of ripe red berries, some orange peel and cranberry, but soon shut down. The wine is extremely concentrated and shows some heat, while the fruit is rather subdued. Notes of lanolin, leather and pepper. None of us could have called Grenache if served this blind, leading us to wonder if the Mourvèdre is somehow dominating at the moment, though I am doubtful bottle age will change much if anything. It did not budge with air, nor was it meaningfully changed when I revisited it a day later.

Wow. Served blind. Threw everyone. We were calling unoaked rhone, or beaujolais, quite confusing. Dark ruby with some bricking. Red fruits but tannins. Long finish. Hides the alcohol well. Great wine!

Deep ruby in colour. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of flora, spices, flora, leather, mineral and black fruits. High tannin and acidity. Long finish and complex.

Intense and long. Seems quite ready to drink now, more than the 2017 next to it. Well made.
