Mid red. Appealing nose of red berries, cinnamon and vanilla. Balanced medium bodied palate- quite fresh and juicy. Gentle tannins. Drinking well now. May well improve but I feel maybe for earlier consumption.

Visit to Castello di Verduno (Verduno): Grapes from Faset, Rabajà-bas and Rabajà. Élevage was one year in large botti and one year in bottle. An attractive bouquet of cardamom, peppercorn, dry bush, red berries and florals. Clean and refined. Intense. Not lacking in power and back palate grip. Good.

Decanted for around 30 mins. Relatively tight on the nose with some red cherry and herbal tea notes. Sour cherry on the palate with a bit of cedar cigar box and a bit more of that spiced, herbal tea. This wine has a lot of upfront acid and tannin right now but still drinks on the lighter side in terms of weight so with the right food, you can drink this now but I would hold for a few more years before trying again.

Took about 3 hours before the nose really opened up with soft notes of cherries, strawberries, rosewater, and spicy-earthy aromas. The palate was still very closed and tannic, obviously still very young, but you could tell that this is a more elegant, feminine styled Barbaresco. The finer grained tannins are perfect now for food but I am thinking maybe 4 years longer before it enters a better drinking window and a consequently higher evaluation. Got this for $34 with a 20% discount from Wine Authorities. Overall Evaluation: B (86).

The nose was intense yet lifted, showing cherry, sweet herbs, dusty spice and dried flowers. On the palate, I found silky textures with tart cherry fruit, minerals and fine tannin. It finished long on palate coating spiced cherry with a bitter twang and inner floral tones.
