Two bottles. Both fantastic. Defies the vintage which was warm and most Barolos are soft and early maturing. This one is not. A towering, mature and utterly complex wine. Almost Rayas like in its herbs and sweetness profile. But with a tannic grip like only Barolo can deliver. Less tar and roses and more strawberries and herbs

Piemonte: Truffles instead of Turkey; 11/23/2023-12/2/2023 (Barolo, Barbaresco, Alto Piemonte and of course Alba): Much like the last note this was in a large number of wines and alas I don’t think I fully differentiated it. My impression though was good. A wine still on the young side but a bit more approachable than some from that time period and so drinking nicely and overall tasty but perhaps needing a bit more time than it’s been given so far.

2023 Barolothon; 11/3/2023-11/10/2023: From a 1.5L bottle among friends and decanted it for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, I didn't take enough detailed notes on this wine. However, I do remember that it was a powerful Barolo with a profound depth of fruit and a striking level of acidity. It was personally my second favorite wine of the weekend, and it ranked among the top two wines for the majority of everyone present. I've always worried that I might not appreciate the style of Conterno Barolos based on the notes I've read, but I absolutely loved this wine. I need to stock up on a few vintages so that I can follow and enjoy its development over the years. 96-97

1999 2000 Barolo Barbaresco (Gemma): Impressions. A little aged for 2007 but still good fruits, high tannins with bitter finish
