Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 91 points

  • Single piece cork, no seepage
    Aromas of cherry
Still quite red and showing little evolution in either colour or flavours.
No formal note, but the resounding takeaway was that this was an austere wine that was lacking charm and substance. Very chalky mouthfeel.
Meh, avoid based on this single bottle.

    Hold,or avoid

  • 13% alcohol.

Dark yet moderately translucent ruby red color. Dark-toned, quite developed and somewhat sweet nose with complex aromas of ripe black cherries, some sanguine iron notes, a little bit of greasy bacon character, light leathery tones and a hint of dried dates. The wine is medium-bodied, firm and quite tightly-knit on the palate with somewhat youthful flavors of bright sour cherries, earthy spices, some brooding dark-toned forest fruits, a little bit of leathery character and a hint of blood. Overall the wine is pretty dominated by tart fruit tones and savory tertiary tones with very little sweetness. The high acidity and medium tannins lend good sense of structure to the wine. The finish is dry, gently grippy and somewhat more oxidative than the midpalate with relatively short flavors of sour cherry bitterness, some tart red fruits, a little bit of earthy spices and a developed hint of sweet figgy fruit.

A somewhat developed Brunello that feels relatively fresh at first, but turns out to be quite evolved especially towards the end of the aftertaste. Very enjoyable and harmonious, albeit lacking the depth and complexity of the best Brunelli. Nevertheless: a tasty, harmonious and thoroughly enjoyable effort. Most likely isn't going to be going anywhere from here but down, so better to drink sooner rather than later.
