Decanted briefly for sediment. Tremendously mellowed at this stage, archetypal McLaren Vale red fruit, sweet red cherry, Baileys Irish Cream, tightly knit with great texture and acidity to the palate. Very good wine still with tons of life and strength for a 1996. Easily has five more years in it. Drink now-2020.
No decanting here and didnt feel like it needed it. Rich fruit and spices meet you on the way to the glass. The sweet notes of oak are still there, in check but still very evident. Rich on the palate, ripe fruit with some secondary notes. Big wine and this must be close to 15% Alc however the alc is very much in check with the long sweet jammy fruit. Well round and even though at times it felt overdone still an interesting wine. decent life ahead of it but we dont see it improoving that much more. 90-91
writing this a week after drinking the wine since we couldn't figure out how to post a damn note on the site . . . probably shouldn't have waited until after the bottle of wine and the ganj to try to figure the site out . . .
opened up very nicely . . . decanted this one, too . . a lot of sediment . . . really cool, dark purple wine . . plumlee-like
SS can't remember the details, only that this wine also kicks ass . . .
if you are lucky enough to have a bottle, drink it.
