  • Very similar to previous note, although the sweet vanilla edge died down considerably while the overall profile was a bit more consistent. The elegance did not slip away into anything thin and neutral nearly as quickly before - perhaps we did a slightly shorter decant. Lovely smoky red and dark fruit profile. There was almost something pinot-like about its cloak, minus the black pepper. Should be drunk now. Quite good with game.

  • Muted briney nose with a bit of bramble and herbs. Dark plum, vanillin, classic black pepper, earth and olive, a touch of menthol. Very, very good. I wouldn't say hurry up but no improvement or immediate decline.

  • A gorgeous wine with a deep purple hue. Delicate nose, cloves, leather, the wine is soft and silky. Good red fruits, blackberry. Medium length finish. Still excellent but this vintage needs drinking.

  • Initially quite round and forward, with vanilla tinged oak and rather plump black fruits. With air it takes on a lean and savoury edge, giving up some of its fat - black pepper, dried blood, dark cherries and plums. The shift to a more medium bodied wine also coincides with some dimishing of the fruit. This goes to a lovely place, but doesn't stay there for long.

  • PnP, first NZ syrah I ever had, very different from France and Australia, light color more like a pinot noir, no oak or vanilla in the nose, light on the palate as well, no specific fruit, nothing wrong for half the Price.

24h later much better, there are pleasant oak an some dark fruits in the nose, more extract on the palate, still no typical syrah for me, maybe more like a sangiovese, but harmonious and not to simple, drink.
