EEE July 2020 Rhone Wines (@ AR): Butter candy, honey and some herbal impressions in the bouquet. On the palate green apples, almonds, butter and a firm amount of sweetness. Good acidity as well.

PnP. Pale yellow beginning to show maturity. Rather reserved bouquet of spicy and fruity stuff, certainly not as opulent as Condrieu can be in earlier stages. Well balanced mellow palate, of course low in acidity but enough to keep the freshness, mature yellow fruits is dominating, also spicy Viognier stuff, slightly bitter finish. Drink now - onwards

Pale colour. Good flowery nose, only slightly marred by a hint of the cardboardy-sweaty smell which can plague viognier wines (note: this has nothing to do with cork taint); however, this is barely noticeable. The mouth is purer, with the usual irresistible apricot flavours; the acidity is on the low side, but very decent for a Condrieu. Certainly not flabby in any way. Altogether a fairly good Condrieu, but not a great one. This was somewhat cheaper than the usual tarif, so the value for money is more than acceptable.

Abricot, miel, notes floral, un beau nez pour un vin puissant mais bien contrebalancé par une fine acidité.
