Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 92 points

  • A wine that made the trip from Geneva to London pre covid and then left to rest since then and somehow managed to survive both the 30yrs of age and the rough treatment of the travel.
Very much healthy and alive , fully mature, truffles and mature citrus fruit, earthy light kiss of honey. Very little oxidation and super impressive at age 30 and worthy of its grand cru status. Beautifully mature and an experience to say the least and evolved very nicely over one hour that we monitored it. Really an experience to cherish and remember. We find it a bit superfluous to put a rating but lets call it 93-95 worth of an experience. We are sure though that bottle variation here would be huge

  • From a great looking bottle, this wine was an attractive medium gold color. The nose featured very ripe apples and pears with a hint of peach. The texture was silky smooth and creamy but surprisingly reticent at first. As is so often the case, this wine took over an hour to show its full potential. While a bit fruity for my taste, this Batard had decent acidity and a medium finish. Drink soon.
