  • {6 bottles opened at Confrerie event from Confrerie cellar; marked bottle variation All 6 bottles were different though none were corked. Removed from refrigerator an hour before serving yet still too cold to start}. Lovely yellow color, reticent nose to start, classic flavor set of acacia, pit fruits, some zest; picked up marzipan as neared room temperature. Did not have the "bigger than life" size expected from Batard, and had good but not great length. Really delicious and had the label not said Batard, would have been a lot more appreciative murmurings. Had detectable but not intrusive exotic notes (very 2006...). My first pour (92) was substantially better than the second top-up pour I got from a different bottle (89) that had some funk. The mid-palate in my first pour was really strengthening but the top-up I got somehow killed that mid-palate strengthening. Some (PG to my left, who drinks a fair quantity of good white burgundy) were clearly disappointed. Only advice: Drink at a cool room temp or just slightly below; no clear idea, but I think would favor drinking now and not holding. NO rush but the bottle variation was unsettling.

  • Burgundy dinner @ Serenade in Chatham: This one had been open for a bit by the time we got to it, had the benefit of opening prior to first tastes. Bright clear gold color. Nose was very big but elegant - perfumed fruit, butter and honey. Palate repeats with lime zest, nuts, honey, Medium/long finish.

First experience with this wine - very nice Grand Cru.
