Nice and mature. It is initially rich and ripe but it has gained acidity and minerals with time in the glass. It is a classic batard that is a bit upfront. It is drinking at peak now. No need to wait. For an 08 batard, jean noel gagnard under-delivered.

Medium gold/yellow color. Nose was citrus, oak and brioche. Citrus and orchard fruits on the palate. Elegant and creamy texture. Medium/long finish.
All in a nice wine, my first experience. Would not have guessed a Batard Montrachet if tasted blind. May have benefited from more air time, improved over the time we drank it.

In a trio of Gagnard Batard. I preferred this wine, as I thought it a bit more complex. Citrus, minerals. Nice depth and mid palate lift. Not as "Batard-like" as the Blain.

A trio of Gagnard Batard: 08 Blain, 08 Jean Noel, and 07 Delagrange. A lovely trio, which everyone enjoyed. Favorites were mixed among the eight of us. I really liked the 08 Blain, and for my palate it was by far the most pleasing, and was a real beauty. The 08 Jean Noel was holding back, and while harder to appreciate now, this will be very good over time. The Delagrange was good but less impressive.

Dinner hosted by MTWG (Mark the Wine Guy) with special guest Noe Tesseron (Vic's Restaurant - New York City): From a magnum, generous contribution from one of our dinner guests. PnP, nicely chilled, drank over an hour (along with other wines).
