  • Slightly cloudy rich brown color. The nose is something like a Madeira from lighter grapes. A touch of rancio with candied citrus, roasted nuts, fig with a note of wood. That all blends nicely into a sort of subtle cocktail like aroma. The palate is sharp with the citrus coming full bore, front to back. I also notice the wood a good amount here. The alcohol warms a bit. Something like a rich tea with citrus added. It's substantial but somehow doesn't really feel weighty. Tasty. I think the Amontillado is a bit better due to the captivating nose. This is one is a bit better on the palate. Both are good wines.

  • Color looks like an Oloroso. Halfway between Amontillado and Oloroso taste wise. Full bodied with, salt, preserved fruit - yet also mineral driven.

Amargos ligeros.

  • Enofusión 2018; 1/22/2018-1/24/2018 (IFEMA - Madrid): Leaving aside the philosophical discussion of what a "Palo Cortado en rama" is, this bottle does not have a single element of that segment: no lactic notes, no sour butter or nothing at all. If this wine came at some point to be a Palo Cortado, my nose tells me that it would come from an Amontillado. It has a final sweet touch that definitively kills this sherry. Regrettable.

Lamentable.
