Managed to nab more of these since the last time I had them down at Maison Pic. Slow ox-ed in bottle, and boy it needed that oxygen to show. Giant step up in class over the Morey 1er Cru and stark contrast in style to the ripe 2015 village cru. This had bigger nose, plusher fruits and higher toned acid. Silky elegance in the mouth despite the perceived extraction on the nose. Roumier game still very strong here, although today, it didn't pack as much oomph as the last time, rather, more reserved. Looking forward to the rest of them.

Opened at Clarence in HK. Mini-Chambolle tasting, served upon P&P.
This wine is always a wonderful experience to have, and completely outclassed the Mugnier Fuées 2011 served next to it (admittedly, more a product of the vintage than anything else). Consistent with my previous notes of this wine: red and blue fruit dominant, soaring on the palate with Chambolle elegance yet masking a lot of latent power.
This is so good now, and has been for many years. Just make sure to judge upon opening if it is one of those bottles which needs a lot of air, which thankfully this one didn't. It will continue to be excellent for a while, and I look forward to revisiting again sometime soon. A real pleasure to share with E & M as always!

Opened at the 4S in HK. Essentially P&P, and shared with many friends.
One of the bottles opened in the post Paulee chaos, but a real treat to be able to share this with so many winemakers. Slightly more approachable than the previous bottle opened last week - gorgeous nose and going down so elegantly on the palate as you'd expect with Christophe's wines. Did get better with the little bit of air that it got, but the bottle didn't last very long. A hit with everyone there and a joy to share.

Opened in HK, after the epic J. Trimbach x E. Muller dinner.
Upon opening, could immediately tell that this was one of those bottles that needed a lot of air. Thus I poured half into the decanter to blind the other guests.
Never quite opened up fully, and the bottle was finished too quickly after some good guesses from the crowd. Perhaps this would have hit the usual 94 I give this wine with time and air - but I guess we'll never know. Still, Roumier is always a pleasure to open, drink and share, and it was a great transition from Riesling.

Opened at Otto e Mezzo. Double decanted before being immediately enjoyed.
This bottle wasn't quite as good as the one I had a few days before, hence the decision to double-decant rather than decant, as I still believe that Roumier's wine can handle and benefit from breathing. Everything was there, and it was a beautiful bottle of wine, but it just wasn't quite as good as before. Oh well, bottle variation is a thing.
Still, great to share with S, as well as a small glass with T and M.
