  • Similarily tight to showing few years ago (for the vintage and typical for the producer). I double decanted this and drank from Sensory Conterno glasses. Very dark fruited, compact profile tight light a nut initially. It was a very impressive glass rather than a hedonistic enjoyable one. So I recorked and parked for day 2 which is when the structure had softened materially (also bearing in mind it had been double decanted) and was a much easier / better drink. So clearly keep those in the cellar for another 5-10 years if you can of open it early if drinking now.

  • 2/6, cork 50% soaked.
Pale/medium garnet core, pale garnet rim.
Lovely pure mainly red-fruited nose - strawberries still to the fore, florals, there are soil and mineral notes too and a touch of game. Medium bodied, supremely elegant with very fine tannins, pure strawberry fruit, touch of plum, soil andm mineral again and now becoming a touch gamey, fresh acids, long, lightly grippy finish. Lovely, drinking well, no hurry.

  • (Ed.)

  • If I had to do a portrait of this wine, it would be the two-headed God Janus, the wine has a Cistercian soul, it is austere and silent on one side, and on the other, it is beautifully perfumed and knows how to love. The whole cluster gives the wine its great complexity; aromas of flowers but also of black and red fruits, and subtle spices that emerge. The mouth, still tight and austere, also knows how to be light and soft. I love this wine because it is very complex, it is one thing and its opposite, and it is not afraid to say so. It is a wine that transcends the terroir of the Cras, which usually sticks a little to the boots. I have drunk it too rarely to have a solid basis of comparison, but it seemed to me that in this vintage, Roumier signs here an absolutely extraordinary, introverted and very complex wine. One has to wait for its qualities to be revealed. This is Grand Vin, quite simply. Cellar for at least five more years.

  • Quite tight in opening which was a little surprising. Then opened up really nicely.
Sweet fruits. Lovely complexity and balance.

(Roumier Georges Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras) A much denser fruit nose and than the Bourgogne before it. More intense, nicely fresh and seems considerably longer. Has a lot of energy.
