  • I had high hopes for this rare wine but they were not realized. Better when first opened, there’s a breezy lightly citrus fragrance with the barest hint of vanilla. Light to medium body, excellent acidity. But whether at cold or just cool the mid palate is just too slight for a Grand Cru from a great vintage. I can appreciate delicacy and finesse yet there has to be enough stuffing to justify it. Perhaps it will fill out in a few more years.

  • At Alba by Kuravita, Noosa. Sealed with wax and high quality 25mm cork this wine avoids the Sauzet curse opening pale and fresh with a nose of white peach, nectarine, lemon zest and white flowers. The palate carries through with those same characters with a fine floral touch leading into an intense mineral and acid finish that has grip and dimension. In many ways this is too young yet PTSD triggered by last weeks premoxed 2010 Batard led me to open this. Fortunately there is still a ton of pleasure in this quite young wine.

  • Young of course but fabulous already. Precise, chiseled, aromatic, elegant. Very similar to Leflaive in style. Tense, citric. Grand cru weight. Better quite chilled. Why white Burgundy has no peers and more evidence that 2014 is a great vintage for the future and even for now.

  • This is an impressive wine. Balance and elegance are the key words. P-n-P. Yellow with green tint. Lemon curd, smoke, stony minerality on the nose. Creamy yet velvety texture, more lime than lemon on taste. Long long aftertaste, hints of honey far back. Not hot at all. Just perfectly balanced. As this wine is getting air in the glass primary aromas changing into more canola melon, faint zucchini and smokiness becoming more prevalent. Deeply complex wine. Super! Believe Sauzet is known for their more powerful interpretation of Puligny Montrachet, while this wine is weightless.
