Huge full throttled Pinot With the massive fruit and sweet you almost miss the fact that is getting rather aged flavors (more apparent in day 2). The drinking window of 2007-2012 is pretty accurate. No apologies, delicious stuff, but big warnings out front, this is not subtle... YFS

For me, this was a great aged Pinot. The nose was very herbal with aged raspberry. Has perhaps lost a bit of its elegance but did gain some heft as it opened. Minerality and shale. Finished very well and longer than I expected Really a nice bottle of wine from Dan! Scores of those one at this point will be all over the place as there are those who love the sweeter youthful side of Pinot and those who like this side.

One of those memorable "wow-effect" moments... The 2004 Moonshine Ranch is showing its very best sides tonight. Of course this wine has always been of the flirty kind, with abundant primary fruit, rich strawberry and marvellous rainy deciduous forest. Tonight's experience is actually no exception, despite 16 years in the bottle... The fruit is there, the complexity is there and there is a lovely subtle acidity making the wine an excellent companion to food. The most intriguing part of the experience is that the nose seems to go on forever, just as the balanced palate which just keeps adding a velvety experience so rich, deep and full of everything, I am quite amazed. This is truly one of those memorable moments. The wine delivered full throttle, while keeping to its heritage and elegance. Still, there texture and structure tell me it is time to drink up. I am not sure what will happen if given more time in the cellar, but I see absolutely no reason to wait. Lovely. (score is 94+)

Martinelli shows again how well their pinots can age. Blackberry, strawberry and raspberry, well rounded and very drinking. Drink them up if you have them, a true joy.

Acidic. Tannins gone. Pinot red white brown hints. Cherry pie cola. Drink up.
